Troops Arrest Eight Suspected Bandits Linked to Killings in Plateau Community

Troops have arrested eight suspected bandits allegedly involved in targeted killings in Plateau State, in what authorities describe as a significant breakthrough in ongoing security operations in the region.

The suspects, all identified as residents of Danwal community, were named as Gyang Dantoro, Samson Davou, Choji Yakubu, Vincent Adamu, Pam Dalyop, Femi Badung, Jacob Musa, and Choji Chaga. According to available information, all eight are of Berom ethnic origin.

Security sources say the arrests were made during coordinated operations aimed at curbing persistent violence and reprisal attacks that have plagued parts of Plateau State. The suspects are believed to have played roles in a series of targeted killings, although specific details of their alleged involvement have not yet been officially disclosed.

The development has been brought to the attention of key security agencies, including the Defence Headquarters, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services, for further action and investigation.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement confirming the arrests or outlining charges against the suspects. However, military insiders indicate that preliminary interrogations are ongoing and that the suspects may provide intelligence to aid further operations in the area.

Plateau State has experienced recurring cycles of communal violence, often involving disputes between ethnic and farming communities. Security forces have intensified operations in recent months in a bid to restore calm and prevent further loss of life.

Residents of affected communities have called for sustained military presence and thorough investigations to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice and that peace is restored.
