NDA Decorates Newly Promoted Senior Officers, Charges Them on Leadership
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has decorated a new set of senior officers, urging them to embrace greater responsibility and uphold the highest standards of professionalism in service to the nation.
The ceremony, which took place on Friday in Kaduna State, was attended by top military officials, family members, and well-wishers. Reports from Punch Newspapers indicate that the event marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers drawn from various branches of the Armed Forces.
Speaking at the occasion, the NDA Commandant, Oluyemi Olatoye, congratulated the newly promoted officers and reminded them that their elevation comes with increased expectations and responsibilities.
He stressed that leadership at higher ranks demands discipline, integrity, and accountability, especially in the face of Nigeria’s evolving security challenges. According to him, the officers must justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating exemplary conduct both in their professional duties and personal lives.
further charged the officers to serve as role models to junior personnel, adding that their actions would reflect not only on themselves but also on the institution they represent. He warned against any behaviour capable of bringing disrepute to the Armed Forces, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the core values of the military.
The commandant also highlighted the need for continuous learning and dedication, noting that effective leadership requires a deep understanding of command responsibilities and a commitment to national service.
The decoration ceremony underscores the NDA’s role in grooming military leaders and strengthening the capacity of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, particularly at a time when the country continues to grapple with complex security issues.
The newly promoted officers are expected to assume greater responsibilities in their respective units following the decoration.
