NSCDC Reaffirms Commitment to Safe School Project in Kano

The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to fully implementing the Safe School project to enhance security in educational institutions.

State Commandant, Mohammed Agalama gave the assurance on Wednesday during the opening of a three-day training programme for Safe School desk officers in Kano.

He said the initiative aligns with directives from the NSCDC Commandant General and national policies aimed at ensuring safety and violence-free learning environments.

According to Agalama, the training is designed to equip officers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to protect schools from security threats and improve overall safety coordination.

He noted that participants would be better positioned to monitor, respond to, and manage safety concerns in schools across the state upon completion of the programme.

The training is sponsored by Plan International in collaboration with Save the Children, with funding support from the European Union.

Agalama commended the partners for their support, describing the collaboration as vital to strengthening the safety of school environments and safeguarding the future of children.

In separate remarks, Joseph Apeh, who represented the partner organisations, and Josiah Shu’aibu of the NSCDC National Safe School Response Coordination Centre in Abuja, urged participants to actively engage in the sessions and apply the knowledge gained to their duties.
