Ekiti 2026: Senator Fasuyi Optimistic as Oyebanji Targets Second Term Victory

By 𝔸bdulrazak Tomiwa

The Director General of the BAO 2026 Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, has declared that Governor Biodun Oyebanji is set to break Ekiti State’s long-standing second-term jinx. Since the state’s creation in 1996, no governor has successfully secured two consecutive terms under an uninterrupted transition.

Fasuyi addressed journalists in Ado-Ekiti ahead of the official campaign flag-off scheduled for April 27, 2026. He expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is strongly positioned for victory in the June 20 governorship poll due to the governor’s “unparalleled performance.”

The campaign DG highlighted the administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare across all 16 local government areas. He noted that schools have been renovated, teachers trained, and health centers properly staffed and equipped under Oyebanji’s leadership.

According to Fasuyi, the state has also excelled in fiscal management and transparency, leading to impressive national performance ratings. He specifically mentioned that food inflation in Ekiti has dropped to one of the lowest levels in the country due to agricultural interventions.

The APC plans to run an issue-based campaign focused on verifiable facts rather than political mudslinging or violence. Members have been instructed to market the governor’s track record of keeping Ekiti secure and to avoid attacking political opponents.

The party aims for a resounding victory across all 177 wards in the state, targeting a minimum of 500,000 votes. Grassroots mobilization is already underway, with the campaign team emphasizing unity and discipline to ensure a historic re-election.
