Kebbi Customs Auctions 66,500 Litres of Seized Petrol

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Kebbi State has auctioned 66,500 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) seized from suspected smugglers along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.
According to NCS officials, the seizure was part of ongoing anti‑smuggling operations, aimed at curbing illegal fuel trade and protecting government revenue.
The auction represents the standard procedure for disposing of perishable seized goods, ensuring that confiscated fuel does not go to waste while generating revenue for the government.
The NCS warned that intelligence‑driven patrols and border enforcement operations will continue aggressively, as part of efforts to deter smugglers and safeguard the economy.
The auctioned fuel has reportedly been sold to registered marketers and transporters in line with the service’s regulatory framework, ensuring transparency and accountability in the disposal of seized goods.
This action comes amid intensified efforts by the NCS to tackle smuggling activities in border states, which are often targeted by syndicates seeking to bypass official channels.
