Rangers Thrash Remo Stars as Rivers United, Plateau United Claim Big Wins in NPFL

Defending champions Enugu Rangers produced a dominant display to defeat Remo Stars 4–1 in one of the standout results of the latest Nigeria Professional Football League fixtures.

 

The hosts took control early with goals from Chidiebere Igboke in the fifth minute and Godwin Iwundu four minutes later. Saviour Ebirim added a third in the 62nd minute before Igboke struck again deep into stoppage time. Remo Stars managed a lone response through Junior Kingue late in the first half.

 

At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Rivers United secured a convincing 3–1 victory over Bendel Insurance. Goals from Chijioke Akuneto, Wisdom Fernando , and Emeka Obi ensured the hosts claimed all three points despite a late consolation from Bendel Insurance.

 

Plateau United also enjoyed a comfortable outing, beating Niger Tornadoes 3–0. Temitope Vincent opened the scoring in the sixth minute, Daniel Itodo doubled the lead before half-time, and Nenrot Silas sealed the victory in stoppage time.

 

Elsewhere, Abia Warriors defeated Shooting Stars 2–0 thanks to a brace from Sunday Obioma, while Wikki Tourists came from behind to edge El-Kanemi Warriors 2–1 with goals from Longbak Jerry and Imamu Auta after Abdulrahman Bashir had given the visitors an early lead.

 

Kano Pillars secured a narrow 1–0 win over Barau FC courtesy of a second-half strike from Ahmed Musa, while Kwara United claimed a 2–1 away victory against Katsina United.

 

In other matches, Kun Khalifat FC defeated Bayelsa United 1–0 through Onuoha Chinedu, Nasarawa United edged Ikorodu City 1–0 thanks to Amadi Chinedu’s late goal, and Warri Wolves beat Enyimba FC 2–1 with goals from Olayiwola Yusuf and Yusuf Abdullahi, while Michael Olaha converted a late penalty for the visitors.
