Angela Okorie Vows Not to Share Love Life After Flopped Relationship

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has opened up about how she has sworn not to flaunt her love affairs anymore, after the emotional journey of a collapsed marriage and the tensions that came with it.
During a candid interview with Iyabo Ojo’s podcast, Okorie discussed her past marriage to Chukwuma Orizu. She told us that even though her former husband was great personally, family expectations and pressures ultimately ruined their relationship. Some of the major sources of conflicts, she claimed, were her being asked to abandon her career as an actress.
I fell out of love not because he was a bad man, but because his people didn’t want me in the industry,” she said. “They wanted me to give up acting and be a full-time housewife, but that’s not who I am.
The actress reaffirmed that the lack of comprehension at her ex-husband’s side regarding her career resulted in an irreparable rift. Although loving her job and having ambitions of her own, she felt compelled to choose between her passion and her marriage—and chose herself.
Since this experience, Okorie has decided to protect her personal life from the public eye. She now believes that sharing too much of her love life on the internet invites unwanted comments and interference from strangers.
“I will never show off my man again,” she said. “People don’t always want the best for you. Some just want to see things fail.”
The actress also revealed that she is not currently considering remarriage. Having witnessed what hostile conditions could lead to in terms of relationships, she now desires a future of her own where she can be free to pursue personal and professional development—with or without someone.
For Okorie, love has to be accompanied by respect and tolerance of one another’s ambitions. For now, however, she’s taking this low-key and just going on about pursuing a professional career.
