Egbetokun Names AIG Nkechi Eze as Pioneer Director of Force Medical Services

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze as the maiden Director of the newly created Directorate of Force Medical Services.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, who explained that the appointment followed the recent elevation of the Nigeria Police Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate.

According to Hundeyin, the development marks a major milestone in the Police Force’s commitment to providing efficient and comprehensive healthcare services to its personnel across the country.

The statement noted that Egbetokun congratulated AIG Eze on her appointment and charged her to apply her vast medical and administrative experience to position the new directorate as a model of excellence in police healthcare management.

“AIG Nkechi Eze is a seasoned clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator with over 27 years of outstanding service,” the statement read. “Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.”

Eze has served in various police medical formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she played key roles in improving medical services and promoting officers’ welfare.

The IGP emphasized that the establishment of the Directorate of Force Medical Services underscores the Force’s strategic investment in the well-being of its workforce, describing it as vital to enhancing morale, productivity, and overall operational efficiency within the Nigeria Police Force.
