Argentina, Colombia Advance To FIFA U-20 World Cup Semi-Finals

Two South American powerhouses, Argentina and Colombia, have qualified for the semi-final stage of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup, following impressive victories in their respective quarter-final matches on Saturday.

Argentina booked their spot after a commanding 2-0 win over Mexico, thanks to second-half goals from Franco Mastantuono and Valentin Carboni, who ensured the host nation continued their unbeaten run in the competition.

The Argentine side dominated possession throughout the match, keeping Mexico on the defensive for most of the encounter.

In another quarter-final fixture, Colombia edged Spain 3-2 in a thrilling contest decided by late drama. Captain Gustavo Puerta’s strike in the 87th minute sealed victory for the Colombians after Spain had twice fought back to level the score.

The two wins make Argentina and Colombia the first teams to qualify for the semi-final stage of the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The remaining quarter-final matches USA vs. Morocco and Norway vs. France are scheduled for later today to determine the other two semi-finalists.

With both Argentina and Colombia showing attacking flair and tactical balance, fans are anticipating a possible all-South American final should they advance beyond the last four.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup continues this week, with the semi-finals set to be played midweek before the grand finale next weekend.
