Reconsider Your Planned Nationwide Protest, Bauchi Police Command Appeals to ” Take It Back Movement”

The Bauchi State Police Command has appealed to the organizers of the “Take It Back Movement” to reconsider their plans for a nationwide protest scheduled for Monday, April 7, 2025.

The police have expressed concerns regarding the timing of the protest, as it coincides with National Police Day, a day dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and efforts of the Nigerian police force.

According to the police, the scheduling of the protest on this particular day is “untimely” and “potentially unpatriotic,” as it may disrupt public safety and tarnish the nation’s image.

The command has emphasized that National Police Day is a day of solemn reflection and celebration of the bravery and dedication of police officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

By holding a protest on this day, the organizers may be perceived as disrespecting the memory of these fallen heroes and undermining the morale of serving police officers.

Furthermore, the police have pointed out that the organizers of the “Take It Back Movement” did not formally notify security agencies or request coverage for the event, as required by law. This omission has raised additional security concerns, given the current tensions in the country and the symbolic importance of the date.

The police have warned that they will not tolerate any actions that may compromise public safety or disrupt the maintenance of law and order.

While acknowledging the constitutional right to peaceful assembly, the Bauchi State Police Command has encouraged the organizers of the “Take It Back Movement” to engage in dialogue with relevant authorities to address their grievances.

The police have emphasized that they are committed to upholding the rights of citizens to express themselves peacefully, but this must be done in a manner that does not compromise public safety or national security.

In light of these concerns, the police have warned that they will take all necessary measures to maintain law and order, and to prevent any actions that may be perceived as a threat to national security. The command has urged citizens to remain calm and to go about their daily activities without fear, as the police are committed to ensuring their safety and security.
