According to Shane, the book promoted the idea that children could choose their gender based on feelings rather than their biological sex. “I knew this was not right, but I was afraid of getting in trouble,” he said, explaining how the lesson clashed with his Christian beliefs about creation and identity. Shane revealed that after his family voiced concerns about the lesson, they faced hostility from school authorities and peers. “The school treated us badly and kids started bullying me and my brother because of our faith,” he recalled. “And the school did nothing to stop it. It hurt a lot, but I kept trusting God.” Despite the challenges, Shane emphasized that no child should be forced to compromise their beliefs in an educational setting. “I believe kids like me should be able to live our faith at school without being forced to go against what we believe,” he said, concluding his statement with a heartfelt hope: “I hope no other family has to go through what mine did.” His testimony drew strong applause from the audience, with Trump praising the young boy’s courage and delivery. “Thank you, Shane.
