Tinubu Saw Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway 25 Years Ago – Umahi”

David Umahi, the Minister of Works, noted that President Bola Tinubu had envisioned the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Super Highway around 25 years prior when he served as governor of Lagos State. Umahi made this statement while inspecting a portion of the 258-kilometer stretch in Gulumbe, Kebbi State, which is part of the more extensive 1,068-kilometer highway project.

He described the coastal highway as the realization of the President’s vision for Nigeria, mentioning that it was initially proposed by Tinubu during his governorship. Umahi commended Tinubu for allocating funds and leading the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway initiative. He also reaffirmed the President’s dedication to ensuring that every region benefits from national progress.

In response to criticisms on social media, the Minister explained that the four Legacy Road Projects of the President may seem selectively chosen initially, but they are actually distributed across all six geopolitical zones, with the North accounting for 52% of the projects.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris expressed his appreciation to the President for his ongoing support, emphasizing that good infrastructure is key to economic growth. Other officials, including the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, and the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, also underscored the administration’s commitment to innovative financing and infrastructure development.
