Diesel Tanker Tumbles, Spills Content on Ibadan-Ife Expressway

A tanker carrying 15,000 litres of diesel crashed and spilled its contents on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred around 8:11 pm when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn and veer off the road.

According to Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene to contain the situation.

The agency’s personnel used chemical foam compound to neutralize the risk of fire from the spilled diesel.

Akinwande attributed the accident to the driver’s lack of concentration while driving.

The Federal Road Safety Corps was present at the scene to manage traffic. Vehicular movement has since been restored to the road.

The prompt response by emergency services helped prevent any major consequences from the incident. The Oyo State Fire Service acted swiftly to mitigate the risks associated with the spilled diesel.
