NDC Reports ₦8.529 Billion Revenue, ₦2.402 Billion Expenditure Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly generated ₦8.529 billion from the sale of nomination forms, membership dues and other sources, while its total expenditure stood at ₦2.402 billion.

The figures come amid preparations for the 2027 general elections, as political parties intensify their activities and mobilise resources to support their candidates and campaign structures.

The party’s reported revenue includes proceeds from nomination forms purchased by aspirants seeking elective positions, alongside membership dues and other financial contributions.

Its expenditure, meanwhile, reflects funds spent on party operations and related activities as it works to strengthen its structures ahead of the elections.

The financial disclosure comes as the NDC prepares to present its statement of accounts during a meeting of its National Executive Committee in Abuja.

The party has previously maintained that its finances should be managed transparently and in accordance with relevant electoral laws and regulations. It has also challenged other political parties to make their financial records available for public scrutiny.

The NDC has faced questions over its fundraising and nomination processes, particularly concerning payments made by aspirants and the administration of party funds. In response to earlier allegations, the party said contributions and levies were paid into designated accounts and managed by the appropriate party organs.

The party has also explained that financial difficulties prevented some candidates from paying for expression-of-interest forms, prompting it to provide forms free of charge to eligible aspirants.

The reported figures are likely to draw further attention to political party financing as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

However, a detailed breakdown of the ₦8.529 billion revenue and ₦2.402 billion expenditure, including the amounts generated from individual sources and the specific items covered by the spending, would be necessary to provide a fuller picture of the party’s finances.
