Ogun Alumni Caution Against Stigmatising School Over Students’ Misconduct
The National President of the Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Old Students Association, Fasiu Bakene, has urged the public not to judge the entire school by the alleged misconduct of a few students.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to upholding the institution’s reputation, discipline and values.
In a statement issued by the association’s National Public Relations Officer, Sanni Damilola, the alumni group responded to a report that the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps intercepted seven individuals, including five students, during school hours.
The individuals were later handed over to the school principal for appropriate attention.
The association said it does not seek to discredit the report but called for fairness. It urged the public to avoid generalising the alleged conduct of a few students as representative of the entire school, noting that Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School has a proud educational heritage, dedicated teachers and promising students.
NUDGOSA asked the Ogun State Government and relevant education authorities to strengthen the capacity of school management to enforce discipline while respecting students’ rights. It said principals and school authorities should be empowered to impose appropriate disciplinary measures in line with established policies and due process.
The alumni also praised the So-Safe Corps for its vigilance and encouraged continued cooperation among school authorities, parents, security agencies, community leaders and old students to promote student safety and responsible conduct.
