Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled terrorist activity along the Kwanar Isa–Shinkafi road in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed this on X on Thursday.

According to him, the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 1, along the strategic highway that connects Sokoto State to Zamfara State, a corridor that has witnessed repeated attacks and kidnappings by terrorists in recent months.

Makama reported that troops who were on patrol encountered armed terrorists attempting to block the road and attack commuters. The soldiers engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding forest.

The Kwanar Isa–Shinkafi road is a major supply route for communities in eastern Sokoto and has been a hotspot for banditry. The successful repulsion by troops is expected to restore confidence for travelers and traders using the route.

The Nigerian Army has intensified patrols and clearance operations in the Northwest under Operation Hadarin Daji and other joint operations to secure highways and rural communities.

No casualties were reported on the side of the troops as of the time of filing this report, while the number of terrorists neutralized is yet to be confirmed.
