China Denies Supplying Iran with Intelligence Before Strike on US Troops

China has rejected reports that Chinese entities provided Iran with satellite images of a military base in Jordan before and after a strike that killed three American soldiers, describing the claims as groundless and lacking evidence.

The reports, published over the weekend, related to missile strikes launched by Iran on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan on July 17. Unnamed American officials were cited but did not name any specific Chinese companies or suggest direct involvement by the Chinese government.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun said China firmly opposed suspicion and accusations made without evidence. He made the comments at a regular news conference on Monday.

US President, Donald Trump downplayed the reports, saying both countries engage in spying on each other. He noted that the claims came ahead of a planned visit by Chinese leader Xi Jinping to the White House later in the month.

China remains a major economic partner of Iran, purchasing a large share of its oil, and has provided diplomatic support. Trump has previously warned Beijing against selling weapons to Iran, and the United States has sanctioned some China-based satellite companies over related concerns.
