The Oyo State Government has arrested 55 individuals for violating environmental sanitation regulations as part of efforts to improve cleanliness and enforce waste management standards across the state.

The offenders were apprehended during a series of enforcement operations carried out by environmental officials in different parts of the state. The exercise targeted activities considered harmful to public health and the environment, including indiscriminate waste disposal and other sanitation-related violations.

State authorities said the operation forms part of a broader campaign to promote environmental responsibility and ensure compliance with existing sanitation laws.

Officials warned residents and business operators against improper waste disposal practices, stressing that violators would continue to face sanctions under the law.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining a cleaner and healthier environment through regular monitoring, public awareness campaigns and strict enforcement measures.

Residents were also encouraged to support the initiative by adopting proper waste disposal habits and cooperating with environmental agencies.
