Emergency response operatives from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) successfully rescued three individuals who sustained varying degrees of injuries following two separate nocturnal vehicular accidents along major transit corridors in the state.

The first incident occurred at the early hours of the morning along the critical Anthony-Obanikoro axis along the Ikorodu Expressway, involving a heavy-duty commercial truck and a light passenger vehicle.

According to preliminary investigations conducted by first responders, the crash was caused by excessive speeding coupled with mechanical brake failure, which led the heavy vehicle to lose control and collide with the oncoming automobile. The impact left two male occupants trapped in the wreckage before LASEMA’s response team deployed specialized extrication equipment to rescue them, subsequently transferring the victims to a nearby medical facility for emergency care.

In a separate overnight incident recorded along the Lekki-Epe Expressway near the Ikate corridor, a private saloon car ran off the main carriageway and rammed into road infrastructure, leaving the driver with serious physical injuries.

Emergency officials attributed the crash to poor visibility and reckless driving during late hours.

Confirming the emergency operations, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, detailed the swift interventions carried out by state agency personnel to clear the wreckage and prevent secondary disasters on the highways.

“Our emergency response teams arrived promptly at both scene locations following distress calls received through the state communications network. Operatives administered immediate pre-hospital care to the injured victims before transporting them to health facilities, while recovery vehicles were deployed to clear the obstruction and restore smooth traffic flow,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated.
