FG Dismisses Borno School Attack Report After Verification

The Federal Ministry of Education has refuted circulating reports alleging an attack on Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) in Monguno, Borno State, describing the claims as false, misleading, and irresponsible.

In an official statement released on Monday, July 20, 2026, by the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the government assured parents, guardians, and the public that the institution remains safe and secure.

The statement confirmed that academic and boarding activities are continuing without disruption under established security arrangements, with all students, personnel, and facilities fully accounted for.

Addressing the online claims, Education Minister Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa clarified that no students from FGGC Monguno were involved in the security incident referenced on social media.

He explained that the affected individuals were remedial students located outside the federal college premises, and noted that the Borno State Government is actively taking necessary measures to ensure their safety and welfare.

The Ministry urged media outlets, bloggers, and social media users to verify security-related information with official government channels prior to publication to avoid spreading unverified claims that generate public anxiety.
