Ogunmodede Promises Success After Kano Pillars Appointment
Newly appointed Kano Pillars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede has promised to justify the confidence reposed in him following his appointment to lead the Nigeria Premier Football League side ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Ogunmodede, who was unveiled by the four-time NPFL champions over the weekend, signed a two-year contract to take charge of the Kano-based club after replacing Muhammad Babaganaru.
Reacting to the warm reception from supporters, the 46-year-old thanked the club’s fans for their support and pledged to deliver positive results.
He said he had received an outpouring of goodwill messages from Kano residents and assured supporters that he would work to meet their expectations.
Ogunmodede joins Kano Pillars after his spell with Remo Stars, where he guided the club to its maiden NPFL title in the 2024/25 season before the team suffered relegation the following campaign.
He is also expected to retain his position as assistant coach of the Super Eagles, working alongside head coach Eric Chelle.
His appointment forms part of Kano Pillars’ rebuilding efforts after a difficult 2025/26 season in which the former league champions finished 15th and narrowly avoided relegation.
The new coach is expected to oversee preparations for the upcoming campaign as the club seeks to return to contention among the country’s top football teams.
