NAN, Novel Communications Sign MoU to Publish 2027 Election Candidates’ Compendium
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Novel Communications Limited for the production of a comprehensive political compendium on candidates contesting the 2027 general elections.
The agreement, signed in Abuja, is aimed at providing voters, political stakeholders, researchers, and the international community with credible and detailed information on aspirants seeking elective offices across Nigeria.
Under the partnership, the compendium will feature profiles of candidates contesting presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and other elective positions, highlighting their educational backgrounds, professional experiences, political histories, manifestos, and policy proposals.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, officials of NAN described the initiative as a significant contribution to voter education and democratic development, noting that access to accurate information is essential for informed decision-making during elections.
According to the agency, the publication is expected to serve as a reliable reference material for Nigerians ahead of the 2027 polls, helping citizens better understand the qualifications, records, and policy positions of candidates seeking public office.
Novel Communications Limited expressed optimism that the collaboration would promote issue-based campaigns and strengthen democratic participation by ensuring that voters have access to verified and unbiased information.
The project comes at a time when political activities are gradually gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and aspirants already positioning themselves for what is expected to be a keenly contested electoral cycle.
Analysts have welcomed the initiative, saying it could help bridge information gaps, combat misinformation, and encourage greater accountability among political actors.
NAN said further details regarding the scope, timeline, and distribution of the compendium would be announced in due course.
