Ukrainian Forces Strike Targets 1,500km Inside Russia, Confirms Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed that Ukrainian forces carried out a series of long-range attacks on strategic targets deep inside Russian territory, including facilities located up to 1,500 kilometres from the frontline.

In a statement on Thursday, Zelenskyy said the operations were part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to weaken Russia’s military and economic capacity amid the prolonged war between the two countries.

According to the Ukrainian leader, Defence Forces units struck the Poltavska oil depot in Russia’s Krasnodar region during a nighttime operation.

The facility is situated approximately 300 kilometres from the frontline. He further disclosed that operatives of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) targeted two major oil refineries in the Russian city of Ufa—Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil—located roughly 1,500 kilometres from active combat zones.

“Our long-range operations are consistent, precise responses to Russia dragging out the war and attacking Ukrainian cities and communities,” Zelenskyy said.

The president described the strikes as part of a broader strategy aimed at disrupting Russia’s energy infrastructure, which plays a critical role in supporting military operations and generating revenue for the Russian government.

The latest attacks underscore Ukraine’s growing ability to conduct deep-strike operations using domestically produced drones and long-range weapons. In recent months, Kyiv has increasingly targeted Russian oil depots, refineries, military bases and logistics hubs far beyond the battlefield.

Military analysts say such operations are designed to strain Russia’s air-defence systems, disrupt fuel supplies and complicate military logistics.

While Russian authorities have not immediately provided detailed assessments of the damage caused by the latest attacks, previous strikes on energy facilities have forced temporary shutdowns and repairs at several strategic sites.

The development comes as fighting continues along multiple sections of the front and diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire remain stalled.

Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine would continue targeting facilities that contribute to Russia’s war effort, arguing that sustained pressure is necessary to compel Moscow to pursue a negotiated settlement.
