Galaxy Backbone, Simba Partner to Expand Secure Cloud Services in Nigeria

Galaxy Backbone Limited and Simba Infrastructure Limited have entered into a partnership aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s digital communication infrastructure through the deployment of secure cloud-based services.

The collaboration will provide locally hosted unified communications and call centre solutions for organisations in both the public and private sectors, according to a statement issued on Thursday by Galaxy Backbone’s Head of Corporate Communications, Chidi Okpala.

Under the arrangement, Simba Infrastructure will oversee deployment within the private sector and provide enterprise-focused solutions, while Galaxy Backbone will coordinate adoption across government institutions, including ministries, departments and agencies.

The two organisations said the partnership combines Simba Infrastructure’s expertise in customer experience technology and systems integration with Galaxy Backbone’s nationwide ICT infrastructure, which includes Tier III and Tier IV data centres as well as a fibre-optic network covering several states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the companies, the initiative is intended to improve communication systems, customer engagement and internal coordination through secure digital platforms hosted within Nigeria.

Galaxy Backbone, a Federal Government-owned ICT infrastructure provider, delivers connectivity, cloud hosting and shared digital services for public institutions, while Simba Infrastructure, a member of the Simba Group, provides enterprise communication and digital transformation solutions.

The firms said the partnership reflects increasing demand for locally hosted digital infrastructure amid growing concerns over data security, regulatory compliance and digital sovereignty.

Director at Simba Infrastructure, Sanjay Vaswani, described the agreement as the beginning of a long-term plan to expand locally developed digital technologies and support naira-based solutions for developers and businesses.

Profit Centre Head at Simba Infrastructure, Aminu Usman, said the collaboration would accelerate digital transformation and improve operational efficiency across organisations.

General Manager for Strategic Partnerships and Regional Business at Galaxy Backbone, Abdul-Malik Suleiman, said the initiative aligns with efforts to expand secure and inclusive digital services nationwide.

The partners added that the project would support Nigeria’s digital economy agenda by encouraging local data hosting and reducing dependence on foreign cloud infrastructure.
