Kogi East APC Stakeholders Reject Senator Jibrin Isah’s Suspension
A group of stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress in Kogi East Senatorial District has appealed to the party’s National Working Committee to disregard the reported suspension of Senator Jibrin Isah, popularly known as Echocho.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the group’s representative, Ibrahim Mohammed, the stakeholders described the actions against the senator as politically motivated and urged the party leadership to carefully review all documents related to the matter before making any decision.
The group specifically asked the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, and the party’s National Secretary to ignore what they called a “purported letter of rejection” allegedly circulating within the district.
According to the stakeholders, some individuals involved in the process were not recognised ward executives, alleging that the exercise involved impersonation and political manipulation.
The dispute marks another episode in the internal political tensions within the APC in Kogi East ahead of future elections in Kogi State.
The stakeholders warned that further divisions within the party could weaken the APC’s political strength in the district, which remains one of the most influential political zones in the state.
Mohammed said disagreements within the party should be resolved through established internal mechanisms rather than actions capable of escalating tensions among members.
The group also expressed support for Isah, praising his performance in the Senate and citing constituency projects, empowerment initiatives and educational interventions as evidence of his impact in Kogi East.
According to the stakeholders, the senator’s contributions align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
They further argued that retaining Isah in the Senate would be beneficial to the Igala-speaking region and appealed to party members across Kogi East to remain calm while awaiting the outcome of the National Working Committee’s review of the petition.
