FRSC Diversts Traffic on Abuja-Kaduna Highway to Ease Sallah Festive Gridlock
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a critical traffic advisory and initiated targeted route diversions along the Abuja-Kaduna highway to avoid severe gridlock during the festive Sallah travel rush.
The management of the highway safety regulatory agency clarified that the temporary traffic adjustments have become necessary due to the massive influx of commuters, combined with ongoing road construction projects that restrict vehicular movement along key sections of the corridor. To minimize travel delays and prevent total gridlock, the FRSC has identified specific bottleneck areas and is actively redirecting motorists to alternative routes to ensure a smoother flow of traffic.
Beyond the localized diversions, the corps has executed a massive logistics deployment along the axis, mobilizing patrol vehicles, heavy-duty tow trucks, and emergency ambulances to clear obstructions and respond instantly to road mishaps.
Motorists traveling along the northern corridor have been strongly urged to maintain strict lane discipline, resist the temptation to drive against oncoming traffic (one-way), and cooperate fully with traffic marshals stationed at diversion nodes. Travelers are also encouraged to utilize alternative travel options where available and monitor real-time road updates to avoid getting trapped in seasonal holiday bottlenecks.
