The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a woman for the alleged murder of her nine-year-old stepdaughter in the Amesi-Owo community of the Enugu East Local Government Area.

The incident, which has sparked significant outrage across the state, reportedly occurred following a period of sustained physical abuse by the suspect.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman severely assaulted the young girl, leading to fatal injuries. Neighbours and residents of the community, who had reportedly witnessed previous instances of maltreatment, alerted the authorities after the child was found unresponsive.
