Ilebaye’s Father Accuses BBNaija Star of Neglect Amid Family Dispute

Ilebaye Odiniya’s father, Emmanuel Godson Odiniya, has accused the reality television star of refusing to support him financially during a medical emergency, amid an ongoing family dispute that recently drew police attention in Abuja.

The allegations were contained in an audio recording circulated on social media by journalist Jeremiah Promise Enemona Ocheme on Sunday.

In the recording, Odiniya claimed he played a major role in mobilising support for his daughter during the Big Brother Naija All Stars competition, which she won.

According to him, he used his political and social contacts across Kogi State and beyond to secure votes and financial contributions for her campaign during the reality show.

He further alleged that after the competition, Ilebaye failed to acknowledge or appreciate those who supported her emergence as winner, particularly individuals from Kogi State.

Odiniya also accused his daughter of repeatedly disrespecting him over the years and alleged that some disagreements between them became physical. He additionally claimed that she once advised him to separate from her mother and exposed her younger brother to substance abuse, which he said later affected the boy’s behaviour in school.

Speaking on what he described as their latest disagreement, Odiniya said he sought temporary financial assistance from his daughter ahead of a planned medical trip to Dubai but was allegedly turned down.

He claimed the incident became more painful after seeing videos of the reality star spraying money publicly at the wedding of her colleague, Cross.

The controversy comes days after the father was arrested over the alleged assault of Ilebaye at their residence in Royal Anchor Estate.

The incident gained public attention after a video circulated online on Saturday showing the reality star crying and appearing with facial injuries during the altercation.

Confirming the incident, Josephine Adeh said the Federal Capital Territory Police Command received a distress call in the early hours of Friday regarding an alleged assault involving the reality star and her father.

Adeh stated that officers from the Wuye Police Division and operatives of the Department of Operations were deployed to the residence after the report was received.

According to the police spokesperson, officers eventually gained access to the compound after discovering the gate was locked and rescued Ilebaye and her brothers from the residence.

She said the reality star, who reportedly sustained visible bruises, was taken to NNPC Hospital Abuja for medical treatment, while her father remained in police custody pending the conclusion of investigations.

Meanwhile, the children’s mother, Lami Odiniya, who is reportedly estranged from her husband, said the confrontation began when Ilebaye visited the family home to see her younger brothers and discuss plans for her 24th birthday.

According to her, the disagreement escalated after the father allegedly accused the reality star of being influenced by her mother.

The incident has renewed public focus on the family’s long-running domestic crisis following the collapse of the couple’s 32-year marriage.

Mrs Odiniya reportedly disclosed that custody of the couple’s two younger sons, aged 11 and 14, had previously been granted to their father by a court.

Ilebaye has not publicly responded to the allegations made against her by her father.
