PGF Dismisses Reports of Uzodimma’s Removal as Chairman

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has dismissed reports alleging that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman of the forum.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Director-General of the PGF, Salihu Moh. Lukman, described the reports as false, misleading and aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The forum stated that no meeting was held where discussions about the removal of Uzodimma took place, insisting that the Imo governor remains the duly recognised chairman of the body.

According to the statement, the reports circulating on social media and some online platforms were fabricated and should be disregarded by party members and the general public.

The report is entirely false and does not reflect the position of the Progressive Governors Forum,” the statement said. The PGF also reaffirmed its unity and commitment to supporting the programmes and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC-led administration.

Speculation about Uzodimma’s alleged removal emerged amid political discussions within the ruling party ahead of future party activities and alignments. However, the forum maintained that there was no leadership crisis within its ranks.

Uzodimma, who is serving his second term as governor of Imo State, became chairman of the PGF in 2023 following the resignation of former Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, after his appointment as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.
