Yobe’s New Acting SSG, Hamidu Alu, Takes Charge, Pledges Administrative Excellence

The newly appointed Acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government (SSG), Hamidu M. Alu, has officially assumed duty at the Government House in Damaturu. His appointment by Governor Mai Mala Buni follows the retirement of the former SSG, Baba Malam Wali, who served the state with distinction.

Upon his arrival at the SSG’s office, Alu was received by the Permanent Secretary of Administration and other senior directors. In his inaugural address to the staff, he expressed profound gratitude to Governor Buni for the trust reposed in him, pledging to uphold the administration’s commitment to service delivery and administrative excellence.

The Acting SSG emphasized the importance of teamwork and discipline within the civil service. He urged the staff of the state secretariat to remain dedicated to their duties, noting that the office of the SSG serves as the engine room of the government and must function with maximum efficiency to support the Governor’s developmental agenda.

Prior to this appointment, Hamidu M. Alu was a seasoned civil servant who held various strategic positions within the state’s administrative hierarchy. His deep understanding of the state’s bureaucracy is expected to provide stability and continuity in the coordination of government policies and programs.

The transition comes at a time when the Yobe State Government is intensifying its focus on post-insurgency recovery and infrastructure development. Observers believe that Alu’s experience will be instrumental in streamlining communication between the various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) and the executive branch.

Staff members have expressed optimism regarding the new leadership, citing Alu’s reputation for professionalism. The formal handover process was completed with a brief ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Yobe State executive administration.
