Enugu Police Arrest 28 Year Old Suspect For Robbing POS Operator Of N200,000 At Gunpoint

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 28 year old man who allegedly robbed a female Point of Sale operator of the sum of N200,000 at gunpoint in Obollo Afor community under Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

According to police sources, the suspect who was armed with a locally made pistol had stormed the POS kiosk in broad daylight, threatened the female attendant with death, and forcibly dispossessed her of all cash proceeds in her drawer amounting to N200,000 before attempting to flee the area.

It was further gathered that the loud cry for help raised by the victim attracted residents and nearby traders whose prompt distress call to the police led to swift intervention by operatives on routine patrol who cordoned off the area and arrested the suspect.

The image accompanying the report displayed the official logo and badge of the Nigeria Police Force with a background of heavily armed tactical officers, symbolizing the rapid security response and operational alertness that resulted in the successful arrest.

During preliminary interrogation at the police station, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted that he had planned the robbery due to financial hardship, while operatives recovered from him the locally made pistol, some live cartridges and the exact sum of N200,000 stolen.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Enugu State praised the gallant officers for their prompt response and reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives, properties and small businesses, while urging POS operators to be more vigilant and security conscious.

The command added that discreet investigation into the matter is still ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations, just as it called on members of the public to continue to provide credible and timely information to help the police in fighting crime.
