Court Strikes Out Eight-Count Charge Against Alleged Fake Presidential Agency DG
A Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who was accused of impersonating the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), following a request by the Federal Government to discontinue the case.
Justice Mohammed Umar terminated the proceedings on Monday after the prosecution sought the withdrawal of the charges, citing the decision to transfer the case to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for a fresh arraignment.
Moving the application, Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, told the court that a review of the case file by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had identified legal issues requiring the case to be handled by a different court.
Oyedepo explained that the review covered the charges initially filed by the Inspector-General of Police and the allegations against Adeyemi.
He added that the documents Adeyemi allegedly forged while operating the purported agency fell within the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

The withdrawal of the charges paves the way for Adeyemi to be arraigned afresh before the FCT High Court.
