After 34 Years in Police, Former DIG Frank Mba Opens Law Firm

Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, has explained why he embraced legal practice after spending 34 years in the Nigeria Police Force, describing it as a new chapter of service to society.

Mba, who is widely known for his tenure as Force Public Relations Officer, said his decision to open a law firm was driven by a desire to continue contributing to justice, equity and national development outside uniform.

Speaking during the unveiling of his law firm, the former senior police officer noted that his years in policing gave him deep insight into the justice system, human rights and law enforcement. He said legal practice offers him an opportunity to use that experience to serve the people in a different capacity.

According to him, policing and law are intertwined and his transition into legal practice is a natural progression of his commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens.

He explained that after 34 years of service, he felt the need to deploy his knowledge of criminal justice, investigation and public service to help bridge the gap between the people and the law, while also providing guidance and legal representation to those in need.

Mba added that his law firm will focus on promoting access to justice, offering professional legal services and contributing to the development of legal practice in Nigeria.

Dignitaries, colleagues and well wishers who attended the opening commended his dedication to public service and expressed confidence that his wealth of experience will add value to the legal profession.

Mba retired from the police force after a distinguished career where he held several key positions, including serving as the spokesperson of the force on multiple occasions and as Commissioner of Police in Ogun and other commands.
