FCT, Lagos Top Nigeria’s Education Quality Ranking for 2026

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Lagos and Oyo have emerged as the top three locations with the highest education quality scores in Nigeria for 2026, according to a ranking published by Statisense.

The FCT ranked first with 62.1 points out of 100, followed by Lagos State with 58.4 points and Oyo State with 55.2 points.

Osun State placed fourth with 54.8 points, while Ekiti and Ogun states ranked fifth and sixth with 53.1 and 52.7 points, respectively.

Anambra State led the South-East with 51.9 points to occupy the seventh position, followed by Rivers State with 51.2 points and Delta State with 50.8 points in eighth and ninth positions, respectively.

Akwa Ibom State ranked 10th with 50.1 points, while Enugu and Cross River states occupied the 11th and 12th positions with 49.5 and 48.9 points, respectively.

The ranking, shared by Statisense and attributed to NigeriaPolls, assessed education quality using five indicators: adult literacy rate, net enrolment rate, pupil-teacher ratio, school density and examination performance.

The scores range from zero to 100, with higher scores indicating stronger performance across the indicators used in the assessment.

The results show that the South-West had four states among the top six, while the FCT led the overall ranking. Anambra was the highest-ranked South-Eastern state, while Rivers led the South-South states featured in the top 12.
