Trump Tells Rally Iran, Ukraine Wars Will End Soon

US President, Donald Trump has told supporters he is close to bringing two of the world’s most dangerous conflicts to an end, saying he expects to “settle or win” both the war involving Iran and the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, Trump said he was about to settle or win “two more” wars, naming Iran and Russia and Ukraine. He insisted both conflicts would wind down quickly, though he offered no timetable and no detail on how that would happen.

His message on Iran was noticeably harder than his tone on Ukraine. Trump said the war would finish soon “one way or the other” and warned Tehran that it must “give us everything” or “not exist any longer.” The language is among his sharpest on Iran in recent weeks, and it landed at a moment when his administration has also been talking up the prospect of a deal.

In a separate Truth Social post, which also criticised the Nobel Peace Prize decision, Trump claimed he had stopped Iran from destroying Israel, the wider Middle East and Europe, and from getting a nuclear weapon. None of those claims was backed up with evidence in the post.

The comments come with the war firmly on the political agenda ahead of the US midterm elections in November. A video report carried by one outlet also said Trump has indicated he will not launch an attack on Iran before voters go to the polls, which sits uneasily beside his warnings to Tehran.

Elsewhere in the region, Trump said he was “not happy” about a Houthi attack on an airport in Saudi Arabia that killed three Saudi nationals, including a pilot. Yemen’s government said its forces carried out more than 2,750 strikes over the past 24 hours and put more than 1,400 Houthi fighters out of action, a figure that has not been independently verified.
