FG Issues Fresh Performance Mandate To MDAs To Boost Ease Of Doing Business

The Federal Government has introduced new performance targets for Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) aimed at improving service delivery and creating a more business-friendly regulatory environment for investors.

The new directive requires MDAs to streamline their operations, eliminate overlapping regulatory functions and remove bottlenecks that have long hindered business growth and investment inflows into the country.

According to the government, the reform is part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, efficiency and accountability in public service delivery, particularly in areas that directly interface with the private sector.

Under the new framework, MDAs will be assessed based on key performance indicators including turnaround time for approvals, clarity of regulatory guidelines, responsiveness to business inquiries and overall compliance with ease of doing business principles.

The initiative is expected to address persistent complaints by investors and business owners over multiple taxation, duplicated regulations and prolonged approval processes across various government agencies.

The Federal Government noted that a business-friendly environment is critical to attracting both local and foreign investments, creating jobs and driving sustainable economic growth.

Stakeholders have been urged to cooperate with the reform process, while MDAs have been directed to develop internal mechanisms to track and report their performance in line with the new expectations.

The government further assured that it will continue to implement policies that support enterprise development and position Nigeria as a competitive destination for business in Africa.
