More than 2,000 academics in Jigawa State have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The lecturers and scholars, drawn from various tertiary institutions across the state, announced their position during a gathering where they cited ongoing development initiatives and policy reforms as reasons for their endorsement.

Speaking on behalf of the group, representatives said the support was based on what they described as the achievements of the two administrations in areas such as education, infrastructure, and economic development and human capital growth.

The academics noted that continued policy consistency and stability would help sustain ongoing projects and development programmes already being implemented at both the federal and state levels.

They commended efforts aimed at improving educational institutions, expanding access to learning opportunities and strengthening investments in research and innovation.

The group also expressed confidence in Governor Namadi’s leadership, pointing to projects and programmes introduced since he assumed office in Jigawa State.

According to them, the governor’s policies have contributed to development across several sectors and have strengthened public confidence in the state government.

The academics urged citizens to support leaders they believe can sustain development and accelerate progress in their respective areas of responsibility.

They further pledged to continue engaging in public discourse and policy advocacy aimed at promoting good governance, education and national development.

The endorsement adds to growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections as various groups and stakeholders continue to express support for different political leaders and parties across the country.

The gathering concluded with a call for continued collaboration between government institutions, educational stakeholders and citizens to promote sustainable growth and development in Nigeria.
