Eight persons have been arrested by the Jigawa State Hisbah Board over alleged homosexual acts in Kazaure Local Government Area. The arrests followed a complaint lodged by a resident in the Kanti area of Kazaure town.

The Public Relations Officer of the Hisbah Board, Dauda Hadejia, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday. He said a 22-year-old man reported that nine individuals had engaged in the acts with him on different occasions.

The complainant also claimed he later contracted HIV, which he linked to the alleged encounters, and appealed to Hisbah authorities for justice. Operatives launched an investigation and have so far arrested eight of the nine suspects named.

According to Hadejia, the eight arrested suspects reportedly admitted during preliminary inquiries to having engaged in the acts with the complainant. Relevant information and evidence are being compiled for presentation in court.

The Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Dr Hussain Baban, advised parents to monitor their children’s associations more closely. He also called on the public to remain mindful of the consequences of their actions, while noting that the investigation is ongoing and the suspects will be charged once it is completed.
