Bandits Demand ₦30 Million for Release of Six Abducted Zamfara Islamic Clerics

Armed bandits have reportedly demanded a ransom of ₦30 million for the release of six Islamic clerics abducted in Zamfara State.

The clerics were said to have been kidnapped while travelling within the state, adding to growing concerns over the persistent security challenges facing communities and road users in the North-West.

Sources familiar with the incident disclosed that the kidnappers have established contact with relatives and associates of the victims, demanding ₦30 million before they can regain their freedom.

The abduction has generated concern among residents and members of the Islamic community, with calls for urgent action to secure the safe release of the clerics.

Community leaders and concerned citizens have appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the victims and curb the activities of criminal groups operating across the state.

Zamfara remains one of the states most affected by banditry, kidnapping and related criminal activities, with several communities experiencing repeated attacks and abductions in recent years.

Security operations against armed groups continue across the region as authorities work to improve safety and reduce incidents of kidnapping and violent attacks.

Meanwhile, relatives of the abducted clerics are said to be anxiously awaiting positive developments as efforts continue to secure their release.
