Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has described the decoration of 102 newly promoted officers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority as a clear sign of quality service and the agency’s steady growth. The ceremony took place on Thursday at the Local Government Staff Training Hall in Agodi, Ibadan.

Represented by the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Olabode Ladipo, the governor congratulated the officers and their families. He said the promotions show that the officers had been carefully assessed and found worthy of higher responsibility.

Makinde noted that the elevations confirm the full integration of OYRTMA into the state’s core civil service structure. Officers moving to Grade Levels 13, 12, 10 and 9 are now fully recognised within the civil service, and some are expected to rise to the highest levels in the years ahead.

The Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Major Adekoya Adesagba (Retd), thanked the governor for approving the promotions and for supporting staff welfare. He listed the categories of officers elevated and highlighted reforms introduced since 2023, including better enforcement approaches, recruitment of new officers and expanded operational bases.

He urged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as a call to greater duty. The goal, he said, remains ensuring free traffic flow, reducing road crashes and promoting a culture of safety across the state.
