The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Dr Muhammed Shehu, has described Abia State under Governor Alex Otti as the best-governed state in Nigeria. He made the comment during a courtesy visit to the governor’s office in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.

Shehu praised Otti’s prudent handling of state resources and pointed to visible progress in road construction, education and other key sectors. He said independent observers would agree that the current administration stands out among previous ones in the state.

The RMAFC chairman also highlighted improvements in primary healthcare, fiscal transparency and security. He noted that Abia had moved from 17th to fourth place in fiscal transparency rankings and had reduced its debt burden under the present government.

Shehu thanked the governor for supporting the commission’s work, including the allocation of land for its permanent office in the state. He said the commission is reforming its operations to strengthen revenue monitoring, digital systems and real-time tracking of funds.

In his response, Governor Otti welcomed the proposed reforms and expressed hope that a new revenue allocation formula would soon be introduced. He said greater financial empowerment for states would allow them to deliver more development for their citizens.
