TCN Announces Five-hour Power Outage in Parts of Niger State
The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced a five-hour power outage in Bida and surrounding communities in Niger State.
The interruption is to allow for annual preventive maintenance at the Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The maintenance work is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. TCN’s crew will carry out preventive checks on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and associated switchgear at the facility.
The outage will affect electricity supply to several areas served by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company. These include Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost, Masaga and nearby villages.
TCN said power supply would be restored to the affected communities once the maintenance exercise is completed. The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the planned outage.
The exercise forms part of TCN’s regular preventive maintenance programme, which is aimed at improving the reliability and stability of the national electricity transmission network.
