Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Phones, Laptop After Ogun Hostel Robbery
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects after foiling a robbery at a student hostel in the Eruku/Agbon area of Ewekoro Local Government Area. The suspects were identified as Waris Dauda and Tiamiyu Abiodun.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 13, following a distress call about an armed gang robbing students. Officers from the Ewekoro Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, responded promptly to the scene around 2:40 a.m.
On sighting the police team, the suspects abandoned their loot in a school bag and attempted to flee. The officers pursued them and successfully apprehended the two men.
A search of the abandoned bag led to the recovery of 11 assorted iPhones, an HP laptop and various items of clothing. Some of the victims have already identified the recovered property as theirs.
Preliminary investigations also indicated that the gang forced one victim to transfer ₦200,000 into an account during the robbery.
Detectives have documented evidence of forced entry at the scene. Searches at the suspects’ residences yielded no additional items. The two men and the recovered property have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran for further investigation.
