24 Die After Consuming Suspected Herbal Mixture in Ondo

No fewer than 24 people have reportedly died in Ondo State after consuming a suspected herbal concoction in a tragic incident that has shocked residents and health authorities.

The victims were said to have taken the herbal mixture under circumstances that are still being investigated before developing severe health complications.

Local sources disclosed that several other persons were affected by the incident, with some receiving treatment at medical facilities while authorities work to determine the exact cause of the deaths.

Health officials and security agencies have launched investigations into the matter, focusing on the contents of the concoction and the circumstances surrounding its distribution and consumption.

Authorities have warned residents against the use of unverified herbal preparations and urged members of the public to seek medical attention immediately if they experience unusual symptoms after consuming any substance.

The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of locally prepared herbal products and renewed calls for stricter regulation of traditional remedies and alternative medicines.

Officials said efforts are ongoing to identify all victims and establish whether the deaths were caused by poisoning, contamination or other factors linked to the herbal mixture.
