Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Wizkid closed the 2026 edition of Afro Plus Fest in Maryland, United States, on Sunday. The performance marked 15 years since his breakthrough in the music industry.

The 35-year-old singer headlined the final night of the three-day festival, which ran from September 4 to 6 at the Northwest Stadium Complex in Landover. His appearance carried special meaning as he celebrated a decade and a half since rising to fame with the hit “Holla at Your Boy” from his 2011 debut album, Superstar.

Wizkid shared the stage with a mix of Afrobeats, dancehall and hip-hop artists and delivered many of his well-known songs. The set included tracks such as “Essence,” “Ojuelegba,” “Daddy Yo,” “Bad to Me” and several others that had the crowd singing along.

Since his early success, Wizkid has built one of the strongest careers in African music. He became the first Nigerian artist linked to a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 through Drake’s “One Dance,” won a Grammy for his work on Beyoncé’s “Brown Skin Girl,” and remains one of the most-streamed African artists on major platforms.

Afro Plus Fest featured other major acts including Davido, Tems, Ayra Starr, Tiwa Savage and Olamide. Billed as a large Afro-Caribbean and hip-hop gathering, the 2026 edition expanded to three days across two stages and drew large crowds, reflecting the growing global reach of African music.
