Pastor Mary Abioye has told married women with demanding jobs that their husbands should remain their first priority and that they should still find an hour to cook for them.

Speaking in a discussion shared widely on Instagram, she said careers  including work in banks  must not take the place of the home. A woman in the session asked whether a busy bank worker was wrong to hire help to cook for the family.

Abioye’s reply, as circulated, was that no matter how packed the day is, a wife should take a break to cook for her husband. The clip has drawn the usual split: some hear care and presence; others hear an old rule that still loads the kitchen on women after a full paid job.

The advice sits in a familiar Nigerian church conversation about duty, food and who keeps a marriage warm. Abioye did not, in the posted excerpt, spell out what she thinks husbands owe in the same hour. That silence is part of why the clip travelled. Supporters call it honour.
