The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued over 180 children who were victims of human trafficking in operations carried out across five states.

The agency said the children were recovered during a series of coordinated interventions aimed at dismantling trafficking networks and protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation.

According to NAPTIP, many of the rescued children had been subjected to various forms of abuse, including forced labour, exploitation and other harmful practices.

The agency disclosed that the operations were conducted in collaboration with security agencies, community leaders and other stakeholders committed to combating human trafficking.

Officials said the rescued children have been placed in protective care, where they are receiving medical attention, counselling and other forms of support to aid their recovery.

Investigations are ongoing to identify and prosecute individuals involved in the trafficking activities.

NAPTIP reiterated its commitment to protecting children and vulnerable persons from exploitation, stressing that traffickers would continue to face the full weight of the law.

The agency also urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities that could expose children to trafficking risks.

Authorities noted that public awareness and community participation remain essential in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation.

The latest rescue operation represents one of the agency’s significant interventions in recent months as it continues efforts to curb trafficking and safeguard the rights and welfare of children across the country.
