Troops Free Kidnap Victims, Recover 94 Livestock in Kaduna, Kano
Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued kidnapped victims and recovered 94 rustled livestock during operations in Kaduna and Kano states.
The operations took place on 25 and 26 August 2026. In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1 conducting a clearance operation in Kachia Local Government Area encountered armed groups who attempted to ambush them. The troops responded and later tracked the attackers, rescuing two female victims who were reunited with their families. A third victim, a male, was found wounded and died while being taken for medical attention.
In a related operation, troops recovered rustled livestock after the attackers fled. Further searches on 26 August brought the total recovered to 94 animals, comprising 57 cows and 37 sheep.
The Joint Task Force said the operations disrupted criminal activity in the area and formed part of ongoing efforts to protect lives, property and livelihoods across the North West.
