The Taraba State Government has directed revenue-generating agencies to strengthen the use of digital platforms and improve information sharing as part of efforts to increase internally generated revenue and eliminate financial leakages.

The directive was issued during a meeting involving key revenue-generating agencies in the state, where officials reviewed existing collection methods and explored ways to improve efficiency and transparency.

The government said moving away from largely manual revenue collection processes would make it easier to monitor payments, identify irregularities and ensure that funds generated reach government accounts.

Officials stressed the importance of adopting technology across the revenue collection system, particularly through integrated platforms that can provide accurate and timely information on transactions.

The initiative is also expected to improve coordination among government agencies involved in revenue mobilisation and reduce duplication in the collection process.

The government said digitalisation would provide better records of taxpayers and payments while making it more difficult for revenue leakages to occur.

Revenue officials were encouraged to share relevant information and work together to identify weaknesses in the existing system.

The administration maintained that improving internally generated revenue would strengthen the state’s ability to finance development projects and provide essential services to residents.

The government also emphasised the need for transparency and accountability throughout the revenue collection process.
