Troops Calm Tension Over Farm Destruction in Kaduna Community
Troops of Sector 7 under Operation Enduring Peace have successfully averted a possible breakdown of law and order in Fido community, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The intervention followed growing tension over the alleged destruction of farms and crops belonging to local residents.
The incident took place on 24 August 2026 after troops responded to reports of farm destruction in the community. Upon arrival, they found residents deeply aggrieved over what they described as continuous damage to their farmlands and crops by suspected Fulani herders.
Community members were reportedly mobilising to stage a protest and demand the immediate vacation of the herders from the area. The situation had the potential to escalate into a wider confrontation if not carefully managed.
However, the prompt intervention of the troops helped to calm the atmosphere and restore normalcy. Security personnel engaged the aggrieved residents, diffused the tension and prevented the dispute from turning violent.
Authorities said operations in the area would continue to ensure the protection of lives, property and farmlands while maintaining peace between the parties involved.
